
Real talk with Coach Tom Schuberth: growing up in Chicago, the excitement of Vegas and the final four, culture shock in Starkville and finding his passion. The 90s in Memphis with Larry Finch, coaching stints throughout the south and how retirement gives him a whole new perspective.
Tom Schuberth, a product of Chicago and a player on the UNLV 1976-77 Final Four team, made his biggest mark on college basketball in the south.
Following one year at UNLV, Schuberth transferred to Mississippi State where he played from 1978-1981. During those days in Starkville, Tom ranked 3rd in the SEC in assists from 78-79 and twice made the all-SEC Academic Team and honorable mention Academic All-American. Tom also won a Golden Glove boxing title. In his senior season, he was Captain of the basketball team.
After completing his college career and receiving his masters at Mississippi State, Schuberth played in 1981-82 with the California Chiefs, a team that toured with and played against the Harlem Globetrotters in 22 countries. Tom was also a member of the Athletes in Action.
Tom enjoyed a long coaching career spanning several decades.

Tom Schuberth is retired, mentors young athletes when time allows and enjoys life with his wife in Bryan, Texas.
