What is the format and length of the interview?
The interview is a conversational format and typically lasts 50-70 minutes.
Are there any technical requirements or setup needed for the interview?
We conduct pre-recorded interviews via Zoom . A stable internet connection and a quiet environment are recommended for best audio quality. Good natural light straight to your face is best and the webcam at eye level if possible.
What topics will we cover during the segment?
Retired athletes >> We’ll discuss your career, achievements, challenges, and insights into life as an athlete and your journey after “retirement” – I will ask you specifically what you do NOT want to discuss.
On the Sideline Guests (current athletes / other guests) – we’ll discuss your current career.
Do you provide any guidance or talking points before the interview?
I’ll typically share a general outline of topics we’ll cover to help you prepare, but it’s a relaxed conversation format. You will be provided with a “run of show” with all questions at least 1 day prior to the recording.
How will the podcast be promoted and where will it be available?
The podcast is promoted on social media, our website, and major platforms… Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and Youtube
Do I need to prepare anything in advance or provide any materials?
There is a short easy form to fill out which gives me key points of your career…
>>Retired Athlete<< or >>On The Sideline Guest<< and I will ask for a photo of you as an athlete (retired or current athletes) and a current headshot (all guests). I’ll provide you with a “run of show” document with all questions at least 1 day prior to the recording.
Who is your target audience for the podcast?
Our audience consists of sports enthusiasts, aspiring athletes, and anyone interested in stories of resilience, personal growth and career strategy. We have listeners all over the US and Canada.
Will there be any follow-up promotion or opportunities after the episode airs?
Yes, we promote episodes continuously and often share highlights on social media. There may also be opportunities for follow-up features or collaborations.
Is there flexibility in scheduling the interview to accommodate my availability?
Absolutely, I strive to be flexible with scheduling to ensure it’s convenient for you. You’ll be provided with a zoom scheduling link (inside the google form) via calendly that syncs with my calendar. You’ll be able to select the day/time that best works for you schedule. The typical recording days are either Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Can I promote my current projects or initiatives during the interview?
YES, we encourage guests to share relevant projects or initiatives during the conversation.
Will there be a chance for audience interaction or Q&A during the interview?
Our episodes are pre-recorded so there’s no opportunity for live interaction, but we do encourage listeners to engage on social media after the episode airs.
What sets your podcast apart from others in the sports podcast space?
Our podcast focuses on highlighting personal stories of change and resilience beyond sports careers, providing a unique perspective on life after athletics. Our guests are everyday people with interesting career paths, ups and downs like everyone else except so often they had to handle change in the public eye.
Are there any specific themes or messages you hope to convey through your podcast episodes?
We aim to inspire our audience with stories of overcoming challenges, finding new passions, and navigating life transitions/pivots.
How can I best prepare for the interview to ensure it’s engaging and informative for your listeners?
Being ready to discuss key moments in your career, insights gained, and lessons learned will make for a compelling conversation. The form you will fill out also ask what you do NOT want to discuss. I strive to make my guests feel as comfortable as possible.
